The Corrs, group of three Irish sisters. I've heard other songs they perform but not this one. It's very delicate, fragile even. Didn't expect Jimi Hendrix to author it. Did you find it sad?

I just found an interpretation of the lyrics by a woman who had listened to the song. You may or may not agree with it:
"What it conveys is a deep sadness. We can go ‘riding with the wind’ and have casual sex (or give freely in other ways) with people and that’s fine, but the the truth is it rips at one’s soul a bit. I think that explains the underlying haunting, though beautiful, feel of this song.
But absolutely, it's also about unconditional love. The image of little wing is generally thought of as symbolic of spirituality and higher consciousness.
So in an interview Jimi (Hendrix) said “they’re all one girl to me” about relationships he had with dozens of the world’s most coveted women. I would say that he was speaking about the naked truth--which is that underneath it all, we are fleeting manifestations of one spirit."

i'm painfully aware that i am created no different than any animal with the exception i have one small voice of reason. Yes i very much agree with that interpretation , do you? Since we are buffeting at the expense of my illusion i feel i can share the affirmation {praise the powers that be i can continue to stand in truth with personal integrity let that be an ever reminder to me keep focus on the greater expression} wings represent to me the dynamics involved in transformation and manifestation. dove, peafowl, sparrow, raven, hummingbird so many metaphorical illustrations i feel what we are embracing here is specifically crow medicine. A shape shifiting of sorts in thinking. there is an earthwalk medicine story that tells of crow's fascination with her own shadow, She kept looking at it, scratching it, pecking it, until her shadow woke up and became alive. Then crow's shadow ate her. Crow is now dead crow. Human law is not the same as spiritual law - we can apply doctrine and principle to our exterior but is what we have applied to our interior that defines our capacity for regeneration and keeper of sacred truths.

Das sprachen Zarathustra and we now enter the realm of metaphysics. In such a rarefied atmosphere, a little wing can become a big symbolism. I rarely engage in metaphysics even though I can understand it. But for your sake diva ...
Like you, I agree with the lady's interpretation in most part. Her contention that freely giving of oneself "rips at the soul a bit" is particularly astute. The question is: why? Why does having casual sex or giving freely in other ways rip at the soul?
I think she talks from experience. She knows such encounters lead to an emptiness, where something is lost and nothing is gained. What is a lost is that piece of yourself that you had given away to the casual sex encounter while it lasted. She has an awakened mind and thus finds the song haunting and sad. Like you do.
Your take on the symbolism of wings is very interesting. The lady sees spirituality and higher consciousness, I see a free spirit that goes wherever it wills while you see the dynamics of transformation and manifestation. Crow medicine, mental shape-shifting. And that term earthwalk. Are you an adherent of the Celtic religious lore and mythologies? Are you Irish?

This is my take on life and love. A Joni Mitchell original, sung by Judy Collins: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifyvhrfp-kw&mode=related&search=Both Sides, Now by Joni Mitchell Rows and flows of angel hair And ice cream castles in the air And feather canyons everywhere I've looked at clouds that way But now they only block the sun They rain and snow on everyone So many things I would have done But clouds got in my way I've looked at clouds from both sides now From up and down, and still somehow It's cloud illusions I recall I really don't know clouds at all Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels The dizzy dancing way you feel As ev'ry fairy tale comes real I've looked at love that way But now it's just another show You leave 'em laughing when you go And if you care, don't let them know Don't give yourself away I've looked at love from both sides now From give and take, and still somehow It's love's illusions I recall I really don't know love at all Tears and fears and feeling proud To say "I love you" right out loud Dreams and schemes and circus crowds I've looked at life that way But now old friends are acting strange They shake their heads, they say I've changed Well something's lost, but something's gained In living every day I've looked at life from both sides now From win and lose and still somehow It's life's illusions I recall I really don't know life at all I've looked at life from both sides now From up and down, and still somehow It's life's illusions I recall I really don't know life at all

i am a dam product of the melting pot {if im provoked without reasonable escape is my Doherty Irish that surfaces}. my training is not complete and i continue in "what appears bitter to my flesh is strengthening my spirit" I've looked at life from both sides now From up and down, and still somehow It's life's illusions I recall I really don't know life at all {never ever ever ever ever neglect to find balance harmony and unity within the contradictions of duality}} "PLEASE"

To go back to your wise words diva divine: "never ever ever ever ever neglect to find balance harmony and unity within the contradictions of duality."
This yin-yang dichotomy is a paradox - to carve out unity from two opposing forces. To strike the right balance I suppose one would need maturity to strip away the illusions, strength to choose the more painful but correct path and resolve to see it through. A tall order but not impossible.
In the science of logic it would be synthesis - the outcome of the bringing together of thesis and antithesis. Then only can the whole be greater than the sum of its parts - or synthesis in a nutshell.
Argh now I see again why I shun metaphysics - exercises of the mind are not good for the soul. Or body.

Jinxx, brilliant! ... The graphics are so tempting I think I'll be heading out for some margaritas and vodka in a while..
As for you my divine diva, :-) you make me laugh, chuckle, grin. I asked for something good for my soul and body. You know what I meant. Car wash my a** ... Hahahah!
Actually you brought me back to metaphysics which I was trying to leave behind, with that song by Christiana Aguilera. As I gazed at Ms Aguilera's ample and heaving cleavage, I was reminded of our discussion on finding balance between two errr opposing forces. :-)

Does the reconciliation of the yin and yang like in the, umm what shall I call it, dividing line between that ample example of two opposing forces, I wonder :-)
Hey, metaphysics is looking decidedly good, after all !

there have been instances i felt i had no choice. I have learned there is always the choice to express freedom and individuality in How i perceive polarity and how i respond. There is absolutely no sense in getting a dam headache over the balancing act or thinking for a second the outcome is at ones disposal. i won't give the reckon lecture, i still expect that eternal flame "wick trimmed", we have discussed miracles and the magic of life force ... surely to heavens a good cry at least allows the function of reasoning a little break from being in charge. heyl i rather move on to the atlantis water wings and practice the levity float going with flow thing and contemplate balance harmony and what i am perceiving as a really bad growing in some positive ways kind of day for alot of my friends
